Kan ikke huske om det er den gennemrettede version, men her kommer noget engelsk.
Amish People
I would like to tell you something about the Amish people, their culture, their special way of living and of course something about their old-fashioned life. I have read about this topic because I want to know something about other cultures and as this is a very interesting and different culture, I took an interest in it.
Originally, the Amish people came from European countries they immigrated from Switzerland, Germany, France and Nederland. In 1730 the first group of Amish people went to the USA, they settled down in the city called Lancaster County which lays in the eastern part of Pennsylvania. After that, a lot of people settled down in other states and some went to in Canada. Nowadays, the Amish people live in 24 states in the USA and in Canada, Central America and South America.
It was a group of people who thought baptism was for adults, so they wanted to divide the state and the church, they felt that the church was too slackly about their discipline. This happened during the sixteenth century less than 100 years after the reformation.
The Amish people are Christian, like many other religious persuasion Protestants, Catholics etc., they worship a strict kind of Christianity. The Amish people wants everything to be strict, the church, the laws, their own culture, for instance, if you break any of their rules, you will immediately be expelled. They refuse to carry weapon and to use electricity. A very special thing about them is that they wanted to make life harder than it is, for an example, they take off the rubber from the wheels and drove on the steel only. They made everything in an old-fashioned way, their reason for that is that “they do not want to be a slave of progress”. Amish people have a kind regulation, where they have a lot of rules, if you do not respect them, you will be shunned. An example of that is, you may not have car license, and it is not allowed having insurance. They do not believe in hospitals, they only believe in herbal medicine. But in emergency cases they bring the sick person to hospital. Many people think that the Amish people are daft, but it is just their way of living, they mean that modern life make them get stressed.
The men wears black hat with wide round brims, and they have got suspenders. They always have long beard. The women use a big black bonnet and an apron. The Amish person doesn’t believe in education, and they have got work for everyone on the farm. If anything terrible or good happens for any of them, they help each other.
I find it okay, that some people is Amish, because they live like what they wants and we live like what we wants. It is just a direction in the Christianity, and if we are able to accepter other religions, then why not this one?
