The apartheid system has affected many native-born South Africans but also Asians, coloured and whites at that. In the first half of the twentieth century Africans lived with the strictly segregation politics which Alfred Milner had established. Later on, the Nationalist party won the selection in 1948 by using the native population of South Africa as a barrier for England to continue their supremacy. The apartheid system was born with the ulterior motive to get the white population to fear. In the fiftieths, a torrent of laws between whites and natives where created. No longer could a white man marry a black girl. No longer could black people sit wherever they wanted to.

In the light of the analytically work with the historical aspect of the apartheid system one must be curious to know; How where these peoples life? What especially marked their everyday life? Nadime Gordimer, who is a white citizen of South African, is the writer of many novels and short stories that contains the essence of the relationship between the many nationalities in South Africa during the time of apartheid.
In “County Lover”, “Blinder” and “Good Climate, Friendly Inhabitants” the everyday life of apartheid is illustrated. In “County Lovers”, one gets the feeling of the difficulty of having a relationship across the races because of the sex laws, which forbid natives and whites to have any kind of relationship with each other. In “Blinder”, Gordimer wants the reader to focus on a miserable Woman who has a drinking problem. She wants the reader to realize which difficulties these kind of women to through.
