Abstract til SRP

16. december 2010 af Kicki Young (Slettet)

Hej :-)

- giv gerne kritik :-)

På forhånd tak.

Abstract:
This study examines the British colonization of India and the meeting between British and Indian culture. The study contains an analysis of Ruth Prawer Jhabvalas novel Heat and Dust, with focus on the British attitude towards Indians. The typical British attitude towards the Indians is, that they are uncivilised and live like animals. Although the British have a negative attitude towards India, they get at some point fascinated by the culture and the traditions in the country. India manages somehow to fascinate the British by its mystery. The novel Heat and Dust is written so, that you, as a reader, immediately dissociate from the traditional British colonial masters. This is a deliberate action from the authors’ side. Heat and Dust is written in the 1970s, when people all over the world, especially in Europe, created confrontation with the authorities. The political currents in Great Britain in the 1970s were socialistic, which accords perfectly with the negative attitude towards the traditional colonial masters in the book.

Minus komma her:

Dust is written so that you, as a reader, ...

"of Ruth Prawer Jhabvalas novel Heat and Dust" : husk genitiv her. Det er ejefald.

altså

"of Ruth Prawer Jhabvala's novel Heat and Dust"

"The typical British attitude towards the Indians is, that they are uncivilised"  : aldrig komma før pronomet 'that'

"The typical British attitude towards the Indians is that they are uncivilised"

"fascinated by the culture and the traditions in the country." : of the country

"fascinated by the culture and the traditions of the country."

"India manages somehow to fascinate the British by its mystery."

"India somehow manages to fascinate the British colonists by its mystery."

Confrontation skal ikke nødvendigvis være i flertal. :)

Håber det kunne bruges.
