Hey, hivs der lige er en der gider tjekke det her af for fejl? :)

In the year 1620 a small group of Englishmen arrived to the East Coast of America in what is now Massachusetts. They swore to a variety of Calvinistic creeds. In England, they'd rebelled against the anglelic church, and were therefore forced to leave England.
At first, they sailed to Leyden in Holland, just to discover that they could not escape persecution there either. On the ship "The Mayflower" 102 puritans, the fathers of pilgrims as they have later been called, sailed out across the Atlantic to America to find the religious freedom they had longed for in Europe.
They received economic assistance for the journey from The London Company, who operated the colony Virginia and were keen to support the immigration to Virginia - an English colony that had already done well thanks to tobacco commerce.
The Puritans headed for this colony, but they never reached Virginia. They were knocked off course and landed south of what we today call Boston and established a colony, which they called Plymouth Plantation.

The first winter in the new country was rough and took its toll. Around half of the Englishmen died, but the survivors succeeded in clearing forest and being on so good terms with some of the Indians that they could buy seed from them. They planted and could already as soon as 1621 harvest a bit, and celebrated the first Thanksgiving on American soil. The fourth Thursday in November has, since 1941, been an official public holiday. That day the Americans travel from one end of the country to the other, to be with their families. Friday is a day off for a lot of people, so it's a good long weekend, which is worth travelling for. Actually, Thanksgiving is the only public holiday, during which America’s inhabitants, no matter what religion, can unite around as a nation.

Takker :)

Det ville være en fordel hvis den danske udgave også var med, ellers kan vi jo ikke vide om det er rigtigt eller ej...
