San Francisco is a wonderful city, which is lying beautifully at the San Francisco bay. Many of the city’s streets are very steep, so you need to be an unusually good driver to drive safely around in the hilliest town in the world. The old tram has been the greatest tourist attraction for many years. You simply haven’t been in San Francisco, if you haven’t taken a tour with the Cable Car. But the view from the jail to the Golden Gate Bridge to the west and toward San Francisco in the south is quietly amazing.

In 1906 the city experienced a violent earthquake, which quickly started a terrible fire. Many of the beautiful painted wooden houses were burned completely to the ground. But since the inhabitants boldly rebuild the city, they recently began to build enormously tall skyscrapers. But for the time being San Francisco can’t brag about anything as tall as Sears Tower in Chicago.

However an earthquake as bad as the one in 1906 or as soon as in 1989 can easily hit the city again, since it unluckily lies on Andreasforkastningen.
