Engelsk
Oversættelse
Hej allesammen :-) Jeg ville høre om denne engelsk oversættelse lyder rigtig nok? Den danske artikel vi skal oversætte lægger vedhæftet
Our son at 14 does not know, what he wants to do, and he is not very good at anything – either in the school or outside. We support him as good as we are able to, urge him not to give up, because we think it is very important, that children at that age has confidence to themselves and trust their own skills. But we are not getting anywhere and he is almost at a standstill. How can we take a different approach?
Every boy at that age has dreams. One moment they want to be a medical missionary in a developing country, the next moment they want a pizza stall on the main street. But I think it is not their own skills and results that are important. No, it is the person behind who counts. Trust him, love him as he is, and that will build his self-confidence. Respect his private life, his belongings and his opinions. When you think, he says something naive and stupid, then do not say: - That was stupid, what you said there! – Rather ask him, what he meant by that, then I am quiet sure that it will turn out quite different.
All people must to be assesses, not by what they are able to do – even if they are exceptional in football or maths – but because of whom they are!

Our son at (evt. of - er selv i tvivl!) 14 does not know, what he wants to do, and he is not very good at anything – neither in the school nor outside. We support him as good as we are able to (... as best we can), urge him not to give up, because we think it is very important, that children at that age have confidence to in themselves and trust their own skills. But we are not getting anywhere and he is almost at a standstill. How can we take a different approach?
Every boy at that age has dreams (jvf. tekstforlaget bør det være All boys ... have dreams). One moment they want to be a medical missionary in a developing country, the next moment they want a pizza stall on the main street. But I think it is not their own skills and results that are important. No, it is the person behind who counts. Trust him, love him as he is, and that/this will build his self-confidence. Respect his private life, his belongings and his opinions. When you think, he says something naive and stupid, then do not say: - That was stupid, what you said there! – Rather ask him, what he meant by that, then I am quiet sure that it will turn out quite differently.
All people must* to be assessed, not by what they are able to do – even if they are exceptional in football or maths – but because of by whom they are!
Husk at modalverber (her 'must') tager en såkaldt nul-infinitiv, dvs. en infinitive uden "to" (på engelsk: bare infinitive)
