AUSTRALIA
The early history of Australia:
The first inhabitants of Australia were Aborigines, a dark-skinned race, which was hunters and collectors. They most likely came from the neighboring continent of Asia more than 38,000 years ago. At that time a small strip of land, which later has disappeared because the sea level has risen, connected the two continents. Some tend to believe they came by this small strip of land while others came by rafts or canoes.
They spread all over the new continent in small nomad families or tribes, but the majority were attracted to the coast-land, especially south and east since it was more rainy. The dry hinterland housed only a few groups, which maintained life under difficult conditions. Around 300,000 Aborigines were probably settled around the time European colonists began coming to Australia. The native had at this point developed a rich, complex and characteristic culture that harmonized with the surroundings. But this culture was also a result of tough physical work and a rather primitive way of life. Caused by the natural conditions and the isolation there were limits to how much the native society could develop.
Most likely both Asiatic and Arab mariners have visited Australia and have fished in the waters off its coasts, but they have not left a lasting proof to confirm their visit.
Dansk:
Slacz

the majority were = was.
