Da Kimveer Gill nåede Dawson Colleges cafeteria, var en fem-seks politibetjente, som tilfældigvis var lige i nærheden, allerede efter ham.
Den sortklædte, piercede mand med store militærstøvler og hanekam prøvede at beskytte sig bag en slikautomat. Han skød stadig - nu vistnok med et andet våben, som han også ladede flere gange undervejs.
>>Politiet sagde, vi skulle løbe den anden vej ud med armene over hovedet. Der var blod over hele gulvet og sko og knust glas<<, fortæller studerende Samantha Cohen til avisen Montreal Gazette.
Marie-Marthe Cousineau tror ikke, at hverken strengere straffe elle flere vagter ved skolerne er løsningen, når man i fremtiden vil prøve at undgå lignende tragedier.

Hun foreslår i stedet, at man holder bedre øje med de faresignaler, som ofte er tilstede i den slags sager.

She instead suggests keeping a better eye on the danger signals which often is present in that kind of matter.
