Jeg har et spørgsmål:

10. Explain the Oedipus complex: How does the child look upon his parents of the opposite/same sex, what would a normal boy/girl feel about his parents?

The child becomes sexually attracted to the parent of the opposite sex, and the parent of the same sex is now seen as a rival.

Men hvordan skal jeg besvarede det næste:

The cild falls in love with parent of the opposite sex.?

The Oedipus complex is only part of the male developement. The son falls in love with his mother and begins to see his father as a rival to the mothers love.

The Elektra complex is the female opposite to the Oedipus complex. It means, the daughter (det lyder nu rigtig dumt, men saa er Freud!)also falls in love with her mother and wants to satisfy her sexual drives, just as the father is doing. This causes a jelousy in the daughter, called "Penisneid", which means, the girl is jelous about the fathers penis, because he has the only "tool" to satisfy the mother.

This is at least what I learn in personality psychology at a German university.

Hej, jeg glemte det vigtigste: konflikterne. Saa en gang til...

The Oedipus complex is only part of the male developement. The son falls in love with his mother and begins to see his father as a rival to the mothers love. Then the son realizes, the father is much more stronger and powerful than he is. The son becomes scared, that the fath could find out about his love to the mother, and castrate him. Thus the son is in a deep conflict. To solve the conflict he adapts to the fathers ideals, more or less to avoid the father to castrate him.

Then the girl realizes she will never have this "tool" and she needs to find a substitute instead. Interestingly, the daughter starts to think, she could get a penis, when she gives birth to a son - who has a penis. - and now follows the really ugly part!! - She wants the father to make her pregnant.
