Resumeet er skrevet på baggrund af en opgave i kemi om sprængstoffer.
This paper explores the effects of three different pyrotechnic types of black powder, made by nitrate (KNO3), charcoal (C) and sulphur(S). The ordinary composition of black powder is 75 % KNO3, 15 % C and 10 % S. By using quantitative measures I have tested the different types and tried to find the stoichiometric ratio that gives the best reaction. In my secondary experiment I explored the possibility of making a more powerful explosive, which were used as fuel in torpedoes, nitrocellulose. The results of the two different experiments showed, after testing them in a fume cupboard, that it was the ordinary composing that had the most powerful effect. But the effect of the second experiment was by far the most impressive one. Even half a gram was enough to make a bang that was louder than the bang the black powder made. Besides the experiments I also examined the history of dynamite. Alfred Nobel, who is probably well known as the founder of the Nobel Prize, is also the inventor of dynamite. He tried to make nitroglycerine safer by stabilizing it with for instance kieselguhr. Alfred Nobel made it possible, against a background of improvement within the experiments with nitroglycerine, to use dynamite within industrial activities.
