hej ..er der nogen der vil læse min oversættelse igennem..

De oplyser deres hus med tællelys, og deres forretninger lukker året rundt ved solnedgang. Som deres forfædre kører de stadig rundt i hestetrukne kærre, og de fortsætter med at dyrke jorden med de bare hænder. Radion og fjernsyn har de selvfølgelig heller ikke. Deres klædedregt er sort og enkel og kvinderne går med hvid eller sort kyse, alt efter om de er ift eller ej. Indtil for nylig havde de fleste andre amerikanere, som jo følte sig overbevist om teknikkens velsignelser, ikke høje tanker om amisherne. Ja, man fandt dm så ejendommelige at der blev arrangeret udflugter til den egn hvor sekten bor, for at folk kunne få lejlighed til at studere dette primitive samfund på nært hold.

Certainly, you found them so strange that there were arrange outing to the area where the sect live, because the people colud get a flat to study this primitive society close to.

My take:
- Jeg orkede ikke at rette, og lavede den derfor selv.
They illuminate their houses (sikker på det ikke er huse i flertal?) with tallow candles, and their stores close at sunset all year long. Like their ancestors, they still ride a horse driven cart, and they continue to cultivate the ground with their bare hands. Of course, they do not have radio or television either. Their attire is black and simple, and the women wear a white or black bonnet according to whether they are married or not. Until recently, most Americans who as you know felt confident about the blessings of technology, did not have a high opinion of the Amish. Indeed, they were so peculiar to people that excursions were arranged to the area where the sect lives in order for people to have an opportunity to examine this primitive society more closely.
