Altså jeg skal op til eksammen her på torsdag, men så ville jeg lige hører om det her er noget fornuftigt :).

Well, as you can see is my topic Nelson Mandela.
I chose this topic because I’ve got a personal interest to famous people, and because I’ve seen several movies about him.

- Well, I would start out with telling you about “the history of apartheid”. In the beginning of the 20th century the whites had all the power in South Africa. The government was lead by white people, and so were the police and soldier. In 1948, the whites began to create a law system to prevent other colored people to get power, because they were afraid of losing their power. They made laws that forced whites, Africans, Indians and colored to live in separate places, so they split people into 4 groups witch is whites as first class citizens, and Indians as second best, next comes colored, and last black, who got the lowest status. So if you got a different skin as your family you would be segregated from them. The whites got the best places to live while other races were forced to live in separate towns outside the cities. And these towns outside were called townships. And this distribution of people was called apartheid, witch means “living apart” or “to keep apart” in Dutch.

- The white people were so mean so they just made a lot of rules to distribute for them selves. Life in South Africa was divided in into two worlds. Everything you can think of, beaches, benches, cinemas, trains, schools, and hotels was all divided into places for whites only and places for non-whites. Even marriage between a white and colored was illegal, and there was even a law against black and white people kissing! It was really hard to the black people during the apartheid. They weren’t allowed to do anything, not even go out without permission and they only allowed to a white places to work. And wherever a non-white went they had to carry a pass that shows what race you belongs to, and if the police caught you without pass they could put you in prison.

- In white schools, the children got the best education, while black schools however got the poorest school. There was a tragedy in 1976; witch was called “the Soweto Uprising. The Soweto uprising was a violent uprising initiated by black youth in Soweto. The problem was that the government wanted the students to be taught Afrikaans. The students didn’t resent it because they students felt that Afrikaans was the language of the oppressor. But that’s not only the reason why, they were tired of seeing their parents oppressed by the government and also tired of being denied of their freedom. So they went into action, but the soldiers just opened fire, and they did not even give any warnings. They shoot everyone. The news about that tragedy was getting worldwide, so in 1980’s, decided countries of the world not to support the apartheid government anymore. They boycotted them, and didn’t invite them to the Olympic Games and soccer world cup.

- Then we got Nelson Mandela that had a big influence in South Africa’s innovation. He was born in 1918, and was educated as a lawyer at University College of Fort Hare. Nelson Mandela moved to Johannesburg, and there he got more and more interested in politics so he decided to join the African National Congress witch stands for (ANC). In 1962 he was caught by the police and was sentenced to five years in prison for leaving the country without permission. When he was in prison, the police raided the ANC office, where they found information about the most important ANC members. The South African government began to accuse those people including Mandela. He was now sentenced to life imprisoned on Robben Island. After 27 years in prison was his goal still equality and democracy. So in 1993 received a Nobel Peace Price together with F.W De Clerk. 1 year later, he got elected to be the first black president of South Africa. That was the ending of apartheid.

South Africa today is very peaceful. The people are living side by side without problems. But South Africa got other issues today. The issues they are fighting are AIDS and crime.

Jeg har rettet lidt i teksten, så den grammatisk er bedre. Bemærk, at der i farten kan være kommet dumme fejl.

- Well, I am going start out with telling you about “the history of apartheid”. In the beginning of the 20th century the Whites had all the power in South Africa. The government was led by white people, and in the same way were the police and soldiers. In 1948, the Whites began to create a law system to prevent other coloured people to receive power, because they were afraid of losing their power. Next comes the Coloured, and finally the Black who received the lowest status. If your skin were different in contrast to your family you would be segregated from them. The Whites hat the best places to live while other races were forced to live in separate towns outside the cities. And these towns outside were called townships. And this distribution of people was called apartheid, witch means “living apart” or “to keep apart” in Dutch.

- The white people were so mean that they just made a lot of rules in advantage to themselves. The life in South Africa was divided in into two different worlds. Everything you can think of, beaches, benches, cinemas, trains, schools, and hotels were all divided into places for the Whites only and places for the non-Whites. Even a marriage between a white and a coloured was illegal, and there was even a law against black and white people who kissed each other! It was really hard for the Blacks during the apartheid. They weren’t allowed to do anything, not even go out without permission [and they only allowed to a white places to work]?. And wherever the non-Whites went they had to carry a passport that showed what race they were belonging to, and if the police caught them without a passport they could put you in prison.

- In the white schools, the children received the best education, while black schools however were the most appalling schools. There was a tragedy in 1976, which was called “the Soweto Uprising.” The Soweto uprising was a violent uprising initiated by the Black youth in Soweto. The problem was that the government wanted the students to be taught Afrikaans. The students didn’t resent it because the students felt that Afrikaans was the language of the oppressor.
