…An argument for using death penalty is deterrence. Like “It is necessary to kill an offender to dissuade other people from committing, the same kind of crime”. Empirical evidence does not support this argument. At their point of view, most murders are committed in moments when extreme emotion overcomes reason, or under the influence of alcohol or drugs. It could also be in moments of panic, or because the person is mentally ill. In none of these cases can fear of death penalty be expected to deter. Moreover, if we look at the facts we would expect to find that those countries, that have the death penalty, would have a lower rate of crime than those, which don't. That is, if the argument of deterrence is truthful. However, in the United States, the state if Florida had the highest rate of murder in the state’s history, in the years following the resumption of executions. It also happened in Georgia. So perhaps the opposite may even be argued.

Din fremstilling har ikke hold i virkeligheden, årsagen til at forbrydelserne foregår er den lette adgang til våben, og årsagen til at der foretages dødsstraf er ren hævn - af hensyn til de efterladtes sjælefred.

However, in the United States, the state (of) Florida had the highest rate of murder in the state’s history, in the years following the resumption of executions. It also happened in Georgia. So perhaps the opposite may even be argued.
