Malcolm X accuses UN of having double standards. On the one hand UN is pointing their fingers at other nations for abolishing human rights and on the other hand UN is overseeing as an example: bombed afro-American churches. These statements are appealing to the audience’s emotions. By using pathos, one of three modes of persuasion in rhetoric, Malcolm X is creating a bond between the audience and their origin.

Malcolm X encourages his audience to participate in a self-help program. “ The word self-help is emphasized encouraging, it is something you personally can do and it will help you. By repeating this word as an epiphora Malcolm X makes this phrase stay in our mind. Epiphora and anaphora is used several times in the text to accentuate the meaning.

Nationalism is a leading factor in a rebellion because nationalism brings people together; they discover that they have something in common. Something which makes them comparable. This feeling of being apart of something big, to belong in an exceptional box, has historical always been a leading aspect in war. As an example world war two, if the Nazis had not thought that they were fighting for not only them selves but a whole nation they properly had not gained so much success. The afro-Americans situation was similar to the Nazis reduced and underprivileged which also made the afro-Americans stand together because they were all so disadvantaged.
