Abstract
South Africa and ANC eliminated apartheid in 1990 and has been democratically ruled since 1994. The transition from apartheid to democracy has been described as an international reconciliation model, but has South Africa developed into a real democracy and is apartheid ultimately over? This study gives an insight in some of South Africa’s most significant subjects as, the economic inheritance from apartheid, South Africa’s new educational system, the aids-epidemic, South Africa’s system of justice and South Africa’s way to reconciliation. Consequently, it analyses two short stories by Nadine Gordimer and decisively the study assess and evaluate the aspects for South Africa’s future. Finally, the historical and qualitative research show that apartheid is not ended and the inheritance from apartheid still are troubling South Africa’s future.
