A Dignified Death
Man is the Lord of Creation but does that mean that we can use animals in our experiments and take their lives/kill them to protect our own life? We use dogs, cats, rabbits, horses and mice in scientific experiments to find reasons for diseases but we also do it to find out whether e.g. artificial colouring in the food is dangerous or to see whether lovely soap and perfume, which make us so attractive, are harmful. In some experiments we put shampoo in rabbits‘s eyes to see what happens. If their eyes fall out there is something wrong with the product. In other experiments we give very hungry rats cosmetics for breakfast. If they do not die, will the child, who has eaten its mother’s lipstick, also survive. We learn a lot from our experiments with animals, right? But is it okay to use millions of animals in our experiments and is there no other option?

Man is the Lord of creation, but does that mean that we can use animals in our experiments and take their lives in order to protect our own? We use dogs, cats, rabbits, horses and mice in scientific experiments to find causes of diseases. But we also do it to find out whether e.g. the artificial colourings in the food are dangerous or to see if the lovely soaps and perfumes that make us attractive are harmful. In some experiments we pour shampoo in the eyes of rabbits to see what happens. If their eyes fall out there is something wrong with the product. In other experiments we feed very hungry rats cosmetics for breakfast. If they do not die, the child who has eaten his mother‘s lipstick will also survive. Indeed we can learn much from our experiments with animals, right? But is it fair to use millions of animals in our experiments and are there not other options?
