The Indian Camp is a short story and written by Ernest Hemingway (Ernest Miller Hemingway (on July 21st 1899-2. July 1961) was an American author. He was born the US in Oak Park, Illinois, Idaho. He him self committed suicide in Ketchum). The Indian Camp is about a boy who is called Nick, his father and Uncle George is also along in this short history that happens in an Indian camp. Nick's father is a doctor and Uncle George helps during the Indian ladys birth. Somethings happens during her birth, her baby is lying in the wrong directions and she is two days overdue. So they have to do a c-section. After they are done with her, her husband committes suicide and Nick sees it all.
The theme of this story is maturity because we follow Nick’s development through his journey.
Beginning: In the beginning Nick is sitting with his father arms around him here you can see that Nick is depending on his father. (We can see that in page 12 and line 9-10). “Nick lay back with his father’s arm around him”.
Middle: Nick becomes more mature, because of what he has seen. He has seen an Indian lady giving birth and having a c-section, and he sees her husband committees’ suicide. (We hear about the c-section in page15 and line 22). “Doing Caesarean with a jackknife and sewing it up with nine-foot, tapered gut leaders.” He becomes more mature, and he is not afraid of dying he finds it naturally to die know, and he felt quilte sure that he would never die. (You can see that in page 16 and line 26). “he felt quilte sure that he would never die”.
End: Because of what he has seen he is more mature and he is a new person. In the beginning he sits with his father arms around him, but in the end he sits alone in the stern while his father is rowing. There you can see he is not depending on his like in the start, so he has developed from being immature to mature. (You can see that in page 16 and line 21).“They were seated in the boat, Nick in the stern, his father rowing. “Nick trailed his hand in the water. It felt warm in the sharp chill of the morning”.
I think that this story is about your development and maturity. The relationship between a father and a son. Nick follows his father who is a doctor and that is not normal, because of his age and kids do not realy find their parents job interesting. We learn from Nick’s journey what life and death is, and how a kid (takler) the situations, and he does that in a positive way.
Ernest Hemingway comitted suicide, because he was suffering from a depressions and that you can compare with the Indian ladys husband who also comitted suicide and from a depressions and pain.

I linie 2 burde der stå "he was born !in! the US in Oak Park".. I første linie skal "and" imellem "story" og "written" væk.. Jeg ville sige "which name is" i stedet for "who is called Nick".. I samme linie skal "that happens" udskiftes med "that takes place in/at".. På et tidspunkt siger faderen i teksten: "Listen to me".
Takler=handels .. To handel a situation or take care of smt..
