The Klan in today's world
The Klan is still fairly active in the USA today. The Internet contains thousands of the Ku Klux Klan-related pages. Klansmen seem to be extremely proud of their legacy and feel the need to protect it as efficiently as possible. The Dens are predominantly situated in the South; there are only a few in the Northern, Midwestern or Western states.
It seems the violent Klan of the 1960s has changed into a secret society that is controlled by strict rules and honour codes. The members of the Klan are now dedicated to protecting the white race and the "proper Christian religion". They declare that they have the same right to preach for white power as the blacks have to being proud of their origins. Mainly the Klan web sites strive to appear as neutral as possible. Their organisation is still racist but they warn about some of the material which will appear on their web pages before allowing people to enter them (American Knights).
The main form of action in today's Klan is protests, rallies and Internet shows. The Klan also seems to be led by different religious figures, such as Rev. Jeffery L. Belly (American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan), Pastor Thomas Robb (The Knights Party) and Rev. John Howard (International Knights of the Ku Klux Klan). To justify their existence, the Klan refers to the high crime rates and the defects in society, and how they wish to change them. Their main slogan seems to be: "Be the man, join the Klan!" (American Knights).
The new branches of the Klan also want to make sure that the origin and the symbolism they want to covey by burning the crosses is clear. They claim to operate on the basis of the old Scottish custom and argue that they condemn the burning of crosses as a racist act.
The Ku Klux Klan has spread also to Europe. The European Klan acts on the same basis as the American, to protect the Christian faith and promote white power. Their realms are in Sweden, Germany, Austria, France and the Netherlands, which are among the countries in Europe having the most immigrants (European White Knights). The European Klan is mainly linked to neo-Nazism and Le Front National, which are extreme right movements.
Thus the Ku Klux Klan is still alive in today's world, although it does not take the same form as it did in earlier days. It has spread even to the "Old World". It seems that the modern Klan still fosters some of the main ideas of the Ku Klux Klan but in a more peaceful and rational way.

De er stadig aktive og de får flere og flere medlemmer, bl.a. pga. illegal indvandring fra Syd- og Mellemamerika
