Hej, er der en der vil rette lidt af min engelske stil her i eftrmiddag / Aften?? Bedre vendinger modtages... På forhånd tak!!!
Gary is very silent about the war he had been a part of in Vietnam. He is glad because he is alive but he will still not talk about the war. When his brother asks him the only thing he said was that he does not want to hear about it. He had not got it adapted and he would not act weak facing his brother. When But hit the hooster with the stone a lot of feelings came out of Gary, because he thinks about all the dead people in the war. He said “Jesus” which symbolize that he is in chock and when he take the hoosters life he prey to god about forgiveness for all the things he had done in Vietnam.
“Did you kill anyone in Vietnam? I said.
Did I kill anyone in Vietnam? Said Gary
Did you?
Did I kill anyone in Vietnam? Said Gary Did I kill anyone in Vietnam?”
(…) He cried with no shame. He cried in a way I didn’t think was possible. (…) He just cried.
This situation symbolize that he does not want to remember the time, it is like he want to be someone insensitive person, but he could not. Gary needs to get out with all the pain and it was therefore he did not stop the tears. Why should he blame himself? The war was not his fault.
Bud had never seen him crying so much before because Gary wants to be a hero with no deeper feelings but in this situation is a hero someone who had deep feelings.
After the situation when Gary cries is the relationship between Bud and Gary more open because Gary is getting out with all the pain to a person who he is close to.
