Abstract

 Hej SP,

Jeg er i gang med at slutte mit SRP af, og har her lavet mit første udkast til et abstract. Men da jeg hverken er særlig stærk til det engelske eller til at skrive abstract, ønsker jeg gerne kommentarer og rettelser herpå.

Min opgave handler om debatten om den britiske tilstedeværelse i Indien, hvor jeg først har redegjort for hovedsynspunkter fra begge sider, dernæst analyseret to taler fra hhv. Churchill og Gandhi og til sidste diskuteret om de er repræsentative for hovedsynspunkterne. Men hvor meget af dette skal jeg nævne i mit abstract?

This study examines the debate about the British presence in India, both from the Indian and British side during the British Empires period as the ruler of India. To examine this, two speeches from Winston Churchill and Mohanda Gandhi are analyzed with focus on rhetorical and stylistic effects and thereupon valued on their representative for the view upon the British presence in Indian, seen from both the Indian and British side. The result of the examination shows that the speech from Winston Churchill is representative to a certain degree, because it deals with one of the British arguments for the presence in India, the civilizing aspect, but not with the economic or the security policy arguments. Mohanda Gandhi’s speech is also representative to a certain degree, as it contains the main view upon the British Empire, to want the British rule out of India. But it only shows Gandhi’s wish to bring India back the agriculture and not into a modern society that Jawaharlal Nehru wishes.
