Abstract

Mit abstrabt lyder som følge:

This study investigates the German Enigma machine’s combinatory, which system it uses and the role that it played in the Second World War. Additionally, the paper discusses and concludes the Enigma machines security in a wider context. The analysis of its security concludes that the English Secret Service, together with Alan Turing, figured out how to break the German code. This study tells about different ways to encrypt messages, and which type of encryption methods there is. However, it is also concluded that the Enigma machine is based on a poly alphabetical system and uses permutations to code the text.

The paper also shows that the English intelligence service used every single means, in the war against Germany. From chess masters to mathematicians were trying to break the code, and in the end they did it. The allies used the information they could get now, and were now stronger in the fight against Germany. Some mean that the war could have been longer, if the Enigma code were not broken.
