Dear Amy.
I am going to welcome you to Denmark. I was very happy to hear that you are coming to my school next term and I am glad to have the pleasure introducing you. Denmark is a lot more different than Bristol in Great Britain but I think we will get a lot of fun and that you soon will fit in. Before you are coming you have to know different things about the schools location and the everyday life.
The school is situated in Vester Sottrup at 21, Skolevej near Sønderborg and the bus goes directly to the school from the whole area. We have three long days and two short days. We have eleven different subjects right now and some of us have more because we can also choose some optional subjects like electronics, badminton and football. In the everyday life we have subjects as: Danish, math, english, german, geography, biology, physics, physical training, history, social studios and religion. We don’t get the same size homework in every subject but somethimes we really gets a lot of homework. Some of us are just skipping them but I would recommend if you made your homework. The first schoolday we can just meet at the bussstation and go together to school. The school always begins at 8 o’ clock so we are meeting each other at 7 o’ clock at the busstation. Besides we have breaks between every module. The school year is divided in four semesters and we don’t have all the subjects in one semester. You shall also know that we have some few traditions on the school and some projects. Every last day before the holdiday we are singing “The Nydamskole Song” and one single day in every month there is a morning meeting for all the students. A few times in the year we have projects about different things and they results in a powerpoint presentation later. That’s pretty much everything about the traditions and projects on the school. So it issen’t so much and I will help and support you all the time.
To keep the school nice there are some rules: No smoking and you can’t go to the co-op. It’s pretty lame but most of us respect the scools rules. Furthermore good behavior is a very good thing.
I have heard that in Great Britain there is some kind of dresscode. We haven’t got a dresscode on Nydamskolen so you can go in whatever you wan’t to. That a big difference from Great Britain but it is really lovely and you have a much better liberty.
But I am really looking forward to see you and learn you to know better. I am really excited and I hope you will like me as I already like you. Please write back again.
With warm recards Philip
