Essay om Storby

Har lige skrevet en lille essay, ville høre om der er nogen som vil læse den igennem og rette eller foreslå noget andet?

When I think of a ‘Big City’, I cannot help my self for associating it with two words, danger and the budding business opportunities, which occasionally grabs hold of a lucky pedestrian and turn them into a big shot. The big cities are luring, especially for the ones who are out to get rich fast. We have all heard of these exciting success-stories, when suddenly a ‘nobody’ gets lucky and turns into a big shot. Why danger? Traffic-jams, road rage, car-theft, drive-by-shooting, ambulances hasting and even corrupt police. This is of course not a part of my daily life, due to me living in a suburb of cosy Denmark. The big city image associations I have is probably a result of me watching too many movies and series, because big city life is no way near as bad here in Copenhagen compared to in New York.
Big City life can either make you or be the undoing of one. If I could choose between living in a big city or in the suburbs, I would go with the big city, because of all the things one can do in one. Big cities offer movie theatres, restaurants, live entertainment and so many other options. Big cities also offer career opportunities, public transportation, and residential areas. When one gets bored at home there are many possibilities for entertainment, and one does not have to go far when seeking these opportunities. Rural areas make getting to places very difficult. Whereas a city everything centrally located. It. Even though a big city is of much diversity they can in rare instances contribute in isolating certain people – perhaps the ones who are not the most extrovert? That is why one sometimes read the odd stories of someone feeling isolated amongst many people. It can be compared to the thirsting while floating on salt-water. Big cities are the pervading elements of any country, almost like a heart beating, with its existence being vital.

When I think of a ‘Big City’, I cannot help MYSELF(i ét ord)(udelad FOR)associating it with two words, danger and the budding business opportunities, which occasionally GRAB(BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES er flertal og derfor skal det være GRAB uden S) hold of a lucky pedestrian and turn HIM OR HER(det er jo A LUCKY PEDESTRIAN, dvs. kun en enkelt) into a big shot. The big city image associations I have ARE(ASSOCIATIONS er jo flertal) probably a result of me watching too many movies and series, because big city life is no way near as bad here in Copenhagen compared to in New York.

Whereas IN a city everything IS centrally located. Even though a big city HAS A LOT OF diversity they can in rare instances contribute TO isolating certain people – perhaps the ones who are not the most extrovert? That is why one sometimes read the odd stories of someone feeling isolated amongst many people. It can be compared to PEOPLE thirsting while floating on salt-water. Det ser ikke slemt ud, men pas på med kongruens, det er fejl, der trækker meget ned....
