MANGE TAK

SECOND CHANCES
Answer section A:

This is a story about a married woman of thirty named Jenny, who has two children, a son and a daughter named Danny and Mitzi. Their children go to private schools, they have two cars and they all go on holidays twice year. At the beginning of the story the reader is given the idea that Jenny is sick and tired of her boring life, tired of the same old things in the same old way. She has come to a stage where she decides all alone to make a change in her career. Her husbands’ reaction towards this is totally negative, he only disagrees with this. He thinks it’s not the way to go about things and that she should stop behaving so irresponsibly, since she is the mother of two. Her side hobby is juggling and her idea is to stop her old job as assistant administrator of St. Stephen’s hospital, and start juggling at public places instead. The children find out that they cannot get as many things from their parents as before; they totally mislay interest in their mother’s job. In the end, after less than a year, it gets too hard for Jenny and the family, they are broke and Jenny decides not to get her old job back.

Answer section B:

Jenny is a woman who has the courage to do something many people are afraid of. Like many other women’s lives, her entire lives have been dedicated to doing things for everybody else but herself, follow her dream. On the side she has a hobby which is probably the one thing in life that makes her feel confident about herself. The income for juggling is nowhere near enough, so therefore Philip, her husband, had good reasons for disagreeing with Jenny. After a year is a total financial catastrophe. Jenny gets back to the hospital and to her old life. It has been a hard time for the family, which the marriage just survived, and that aren’t going to be the same between Jenny and her husband as he is never going to absolutely for give her for ruination their lives for a while.
Everybody makes mistakes some people learn the first time some people don’t they just go on doing it again and then probably learn from it. Jenny made her mistakes in this story and it not only affected Jenny but the whole family. Everybody went through this, each in his own different way. She put things back together again. I would say Jenny learnt not to make big decisions in such a hurry, especially when a family is involved. You should count everybody in.

Rettet opgave. Skulle være tilstrækkeligt.

At the beginning of the story the reader is given the idea that Jenny is sick and tired of her boring life, tired of the same old things in the same old way. She has come to a stage where she decides all alone to make a change in her career. Her husband's reaction towards this is completely negative. He only disagrees with this. He thinks it is not the way to go about things and that she should stop behaving so irresponsibly, since she is the mother of two. Her side hobby is juggling and her idea is to quit her old job as assistant administrator of St. Stephen’s hospital, and start juggling at public places instead. The children find out that they cannot get as many things from their parents as before; they totally mislay interest in their mother’s job. In the end, after less than a year, it gets too hard for Jenny and the family. They are broke and Jenny decides not to get her old job back.

Hej,

Rettelser til 'section A' angivet med stort - kommentarer i kantede parenteser. Jeg citerer;

"This is a story about a THIRTY YEAR OLD [bedre at skrive ligefrem] married woman named Jenny, who has two children, a son and a daughter named Danny and Mitzi. Their children [du mener vel 'her children'? I så fald, skriv: 'they go to private schools'] go to private schools, they have two cars [manglende komma foran 'and' ved opremsning] and they all go on holidays twice A year [to gange om året: twice a year]. At the beginning of the story the reader is given the idea that Jenny is sick and tired of her boring life, tired of the same old things in the same old way. She has come to a stage where she decides all alone [er 'all alone' vigtigt? Ellers udelad det] to make a change in her career. Her HUSBAND'S [genitiv, singularis] reaction towards this is totally [undgå 'totally'. Alternativ til denne sætning: HER HUSBAND REACTS IN A VERY NEGATIVE WAY, SINCE HE DISAGREES WITH HER] negative, he only disagrees with this. He thinks [bedre: IN HIS OPINION] it's not the way to go about ['go about things'? Hvad mener du helt præcist?] things and that she should stop behaving so irresponsibly, since she is the mother of two CHILDREN. Her side hobby [bibeskæftigelse: 'sideline'] is juggling and her idea is to FORGET ABOUT [eller: drop] her old job as assistant administrator of St. Stephen’s hospital, and start juggling at public places instead. The children find out that they cannot get as many things from their parents as before. They COMPLETELY mislay [miste interessen for: 'lose interest in'] arbejde? ] interest in their mother’s job. In the end, after less than a year, it gets too hard for Jenny and the family, they are broke and Jenny decides not to get her old job back."

#3: Glem kommentaren til 'their children'. Behold bare 'their'.

Hej,

Her kommer alligevel nogle rettelser samt bemærkninger til 'section B'. Jeg citerer;

"Jenny is a woman who has the courage to do something many people are afraid of [ja, hvad? Præciser det kort for læseren her]. Like many other women's lives, her entire LIFE [singularis] HAS been dedicated to doing things for everybody else but herself, INSTEAD OF FOLLOWING her dream [er det ikke det, du mener? Hun ønsker vel netop at gøre noget for sig selv, ikke sandt?]. HAVING JUGGLING AS A SIDELINE [nævn hendes bibeskæftigelse, ikke bare at hun har en hobby], IT IS probably the one thing in life that makes her feel SELF-CONFIDENT. HOWEVER, [dog: 'however', er en god sætningsindleder her] the income for juggling is nowhere near enough, so therefore HER HUSBAND [skriv ligefrem] Philip had good reasons for disagreeing with HER. After a year THE FAMILY FINDS ITSELF IN A FINANCIAL CRISIS ['total' droppes. Den økonomiske krisesituation siger rigeligt i sig selv]. Jenny gets back to the hospital and to her old life. It has been a hard time for the family, AND the marriage just survived [jeg tror også, at 'remained' (bestod) kan bruges]. THINGS AREN'T going to be the same between Jenny and her husband [el. 'Philip'. Læseren ved jo på nuværende tidspunkt, hvem Philip er] as he is never going to ['absolutely' droppes] FORGIVE [i ét ord] her for RUINING their lives for a while.
Everybody makes mistakes. SOME people learn FROM IT the first time, WHEREAS OTHERS don’t. THEY just go on doing it again and then probably learn from it [godt - her bruger du 'from']. Jenny made her mistakes in this story and THEY [det er fejlene, der påvirker familien] DID not only affect Jenny but the whole [el. 'entire'] family. THEY ALL MANAGED TO GET PAST THE CRISIS IN DIFFERENT WAYS [derved undgår du problemet med 'his/her']. She put things back together again. I would say [el. 'In my opinion'] Jenny learnt not to make big ['unreasonable' er bedre her, da du vel mener, at hun handlede ufornuftigt, ikke?] decisions in such a hurry, especially when a family is involved. You should count everybody in."
