The Aboriginals live in Australia for many years ago, long before the white men came in 1788. The time when the first Europeans settled in Australia there were perhaps as many a million aborigines in Australia. The aborigines were divided into 600 tribes and over 200 different spoken languages. The 600 tribes lived in an area bigger than Europe. Each tribe lived at their own piece of land.
When the white man, Captain Cookarrives, came in 1788, he started colonization which later means that Australia would no longer be the Aboriginals country.
One part in Aboriginal history is called the Stolen Children where the white people transferred children between 4 and 7 years old to foster homes and institutions. The idea was that after the children had been in a foster home or an institution for a while, they would be able to take their place in society as other Australians.
A very important thing for the Aboriginals is the expression Dreamtime which was when everything was created: the land, the sea and all living. It's the explanation of their connection with the animals, the nature and of course the spirits.
There are many different stories about the Dreamtime, depending on which Aboriginal tribe you are talking about, but one thing is the same all over. That the creation of the earth and how all living things were created, that’s where the spirits woke up and created everything. As the spirits travelled over the country, their movements created the mountains, rivers, animals and plants.
