(The narrator is a business man sitting by the window in his London office):</o:p>

It’s been raining for at least two hours, I think. The woman I’ve seen several times is still waiting at the bus stop, but I must admit that yesterday in the sunlight(,) she looked less miserable(,) than she does now. She’s been there for forty minutes now(,) at least.</o:p>

Well,  I’d better get to work. I suppose(,) I have to fill up the day somehow, and after that I’ll return home. And then of course(,) I’ll be forced to tell Sylvia, that’s my wife, that the business is collapsing. I hope that Sylvia will have dinner ready for my arrival, and then we’ll eat together with the children, of course. Afterwards I’ll read them a bedtime story(,) and  then we’ll probably watch TV. A few hours later(,) it will be time to go to the bed, and still I’m afraid(,) I haven’t told her.</o:p>

And tomorrow(,) I’ll return to the office(,) and the day after tomorrow and the day after that. There will be letters marked(:) “Urgent”, telegrams, meeting, invitations for lunch(,) (and so on) etc.. I have no doubt that my secretary, who’s been with me for many years, will be most helpful, but she cannot help me with the greatest problem of them all, namely(,) my hopeless financial situation.</o:p>

All of sudden the woman(,) at the bus stop crosses the road(,) looking (confusedly) right and left in confusion. I watch her(, ); she looks as if she’s seen somebody she knows on the other side of the street(,) just below my window. I can’t help noticing her hat: it’s at least twenty years since women(,) wore that type of hat . That hat,  - I wonder, where she bought it(,); perhaps somebody gave it to her(,) or perhaps she inherited it from her mother. Obviously(,) she’s not a rich woman(,); her clothes tell me that…</o:p>
