It is not at all unusual that the whole elephant herds are shooting down with machine guns. This has resulted that the number of elephants in the last ten years are become more than halve. The government in Taiwan (søgte) for some couple of years ago to warn about the problem in public to burn big amounts confiscated ivory. “We hope that this would get people in the wealthy countries to stop buying ivory,” says a biologist from the world Wildlife Fund.

Even though the trade with ivory now has been forbidden in many countries, poachers are still hunting (for) "the white gold". It is not unusual at all that entire herds of elephants are shot down with machine guns. This has resulted in the fact that the amount of elephants has been more than halfened during the past ten years. The gouvernment in Taiwan tried for a couple of years to warn about the problem by burning big amounts of confiscated ivory in publicy. Resten er fint nok... håber jeg da..
