Summary of Indian Camp

An Indian woman is giving birth, but unfortunately, she’s in labour. Hence, a doctor comes to help her. The doctor arrives to the Indian camp along with his brother, George, and his son, Nick whom assists him. They go to the Indian camp by rowboat. The doctor sits on the stern of the rowboat along with Nick as the boat approaches the camp. When the rowboat arrives, a young Indian beaches the boat.
The doctor and his son arrive at the shanty. The husband of the pregnant lady is in the upper bunk of the shanty. The doctor demands some hot water to wash his hands. He realizes that a performance of a Caesarian operation on the Indian woman is necessary. Despite he doesn’t any anesthetic or decent surgery equipment; he uses a jackknife to operate the woman. When the baby along with the placenta is out, the doctor sews the Indian woman’s stomach with some tapered gut leaders. The Indian woman’s husband commits suicide during the operation.
The operation is over, and Nick’s father is elated. They go home early in the morning. In compare cent to the other journey, Nick sits alone in the stern of the rowboat.
