The text is about humanoid robots that Japanese scientists have developed and predictions of the next generation of technology.
In the start of the text, there are a Japanese, named Norihiro Hagita, that makes an experiment to see, if humans can live with robots.
He took a little girl and her mother in a room with a robot and kept them, there for two hours.
The girl and the robot start to chat and play for some time, and when the robot asks her for a hug, she happily complies.
When the girl got tired, she wouldn’t play with the robot, but the robot waited to make sure that the girl truly didn’t want to play, and when it found out that the girl didn’t want to play, the robot goes to the mother to talk with her.
When the little girl saw, that the robot was with her mother, she got jealous (maybe because she believed that it will take her place or because she doesn’t even has conversations with her mother).
Japanese engineers want to make the machines more human, and they use a lot of time to do that. They want to make robots in a way so there are easy to live with.
Moreover it is difficult to learn robots, the real life as a human, because it’s difficult for them to understand and learn.
The robots don't understand signs and gestures that humans uses.
Some of the robots can speak 30.000 phrases in four different languages and some of them do really look like humans (a woman).
