The study examines the two stories; ´´Snedronningen´´ and ´´Rejsekammeraten´´ written by H.C. Andersen. These two fairytales can be interpreted in many ways but in this study there’s a special focus on the demonic and religious aspects. The study also investigates how H.C. Andersen’s life can be compared to ´´Snedronningen´´ and ´´Rejsekammeraten´´ and how the period of the time the stories was written can be related to the two stories. The most important themes in this study are religion and love. The focus on these two themes is because it’s important to be aware of how the main characters are surviving because of their love and their faith in Christianity, and how they conquer evil with love and religion by their side. Some of these themes are hidden in metaphors and special descriptions which makes the stories more understandable when you have interpreted them in the correct way. In the study the stories are both being analysed in the same time as they are being told so that it’s easier to create an overview of the stories. It’s concluded that there is a spot for everyone as long as you bring along your love and faith.
