The Bench oversættelse
The story is about the colored man Karlie who to a demonstration in April 1952 listens to speeches which are about that he has just as many rights as the whites. When he subsequently goes to the train station, he wanted to test what happens if he breaks one of the many apartheid laws: He sits on a bench marked "Only for Europeans'. Firstly no one seems to notice where he sits, but suddenly a white man comes over and yell at Karlie: "Move away from the bench you bastard!" Karlie will be seated even though the man threatens the police.
More people come and look while the white man, and shortly after the police also, scold and take hold of Karlie. Karlie arrested, but he still feels that he has won the battle of the European bench.
