I en leder i British Medical Journal siges det, at britiske teenagere har de mest usunde sexvaner i Europa.
De slår rekorden med hensyn til graviditeter, aborter og seksuelt overførte sygdomme. Fødselsprocenten for de 15- til 19-årige er syv gange så høj som i Holland, hvor et lignende antal unge dyrker sex, men er mere tilbøjelige til at beskytte sig.
Det kan skyldes, at uddannelsesniveauet er for lavt, idet en god almen uddannelse ofte medfører sundere sexvaner. En anden grund kan være, at Storbritannien har flere fattige. For det tredje har britiske forældre den længste arbejdstid i Europa og tilbringer måske derfor for lidt tid sammen med deres børn.
In an editorial in the British Medical Journal it says, that British teenagers have the unhealthiest sexual habits in Europe.
They break the record when it comes to pregnancies, abortions and sexual transmitted diseases. The birth rate for the 15 to 19 year old is seven times as high as in the Netherlands, where a similar number of kids practice sex, but are more prone to protect oneself.
This can result from, that the level of education is to low, in that a good general education often results in healthier sexual habits. A second reason cut be, that Great Britain have several poor people.
For the third British parents have the longest working hours in Europe and maybe for that reason they spent too little time with their children.
