My assignment is about ”Intelligence and IQ”.

I choosed this subject because I find it fascinating. I think it is funny that intelligence can be measured just by taking a test. (At least; that’s what some people think)

The question is, wheather the result is reliable or not. There is no doubt that the test can tell you how good you are solving some problems. But can it tell you how intelligent you are?

IQ tests measures the ability put numbers and figures together in different patterns, but that is not the definition of “intelligence”. Many important mental abilities are left out. Abilities responsible for art, music, dance, cooking, clerical, foreign languages, defeating an enemy in war, and so on They have no connection to a high IQ!

They have no connection because literacy and numeracy have almost nothing to do with each other.

It would be way to advanced to make a test that would be able to measure intelligence. Such a test would take month to get through. It would require task in dancing, cooking, singing, and so on.

So; It is important to understand that IQ and intelligence NOT is the same.

You might think that it is a little weird that I find it fascinating - if a high IQ is completely useless. But I don’t think so, IQ can still tell many funny things.

For instance:

IQ can give a good hint on the person’s social class. For example; People with IQs between 75 and 90 are 88 times more likely to drop out of high school, seven times more likely to be jailed, and five times more likely as adults to live in poverty than people with IQs between 110 and 125.

>>>>>> HVIS DER ER MERE TID:

Do I have time to tell you how IQ is measured? Ok,

The first IQ test was made by the Frenchman, Alfred Binet. He created an IQ test in 1899 to be able to identify children who needed special education because of their mental condition. Binet's test included many different questions and tasks. The tasks even included unwrapping a piece of candy and comparing the weights of different objects!

The IQ was invented to compare the mental age, (MA), of a child to the child's chronological age, (CA). The IQ was calculated this way:

IQ = (MA/CA)*100

For example; if a certain child started reading, etc., at the age of 4 years (CA) and average children start reading at the age of 6 years (MA), the child would get an IQ score of 150.

hmm... who's asking?
Never mind. But do you really belive that a person is intellegent if he is good at singing?
Don't you think that we have to realise that people with a high IQ are more intellegent than others?
But as you mention the IQ is only one of many skills that the human being posesses. As you say some people can sing and cook. But in my oppinion that doesn't make them intellegent.
We have all heard that there are 7 different intellegens; the social, the creative and so on.
I'm not saying that people with a higher IQ are more are of value the other, because people with high social skills are often far better of in life.

By the way, it sounds like a presentation, but if it were me, I would likely ask some of the questions I did previosly.

"Having a high IQ is not nesseserily the same as being intelligent"

i stedet for...
