Billy Elliot eller This is Enland

Jeg har besvaret nogle spørgsmål i vedlagte fil som blev givet til mig af min lærer, man kan ikke kalde det en større opgave, men hvis det på nogen måde er behjælpeligt...

Spørgsmålene lød således:

1) How do Billy's father and Tony look upon balletdancing? Why are they so upset about Billy dancing?

2) What is it that convinces Billy's father, that he should let Billy dance?

3) Mrs Wilkinson offers to pay the expences to Billy's dancing. The father says: "I am his father, he is my responsibility". Why do you think the father answers like that - why doesn't he just say thank you?

4) Billy's father says: "Boys box, play football or wrestle". Do you think that there are special sports for girls and special sports for boys? Who decides? What about yourself, what kind of sport do you "play"? Do you find it a typical sport for boys or for girls?

5) Billy's mother is an essential character in the story. Despite her death she is "ever present" in the film. There are photographs of her, Billy and his Grandma visiting the grave and her personal possessions are still in the house. Billy also has a letter from his mother. What does it say in the letter? And what do you think it means?

6) Billy's best friend is Michael. Michael is also an outsider. Why do you think Michael chooses to show Billy that he likes to dress in girl's clothes? In the end of the movie we see the grown up Michael watching Billy's performance in The Royal Ballet - Michael is dressed as a woman would be dressed - how do you see a connection between Billy's dream coming true and Michael in this last scene?

7) When Billy is trying to get into the Royal Ballet School in London, everybody in Billy's hometown is very exited about it. Why is that? What does Billy's dream has to do with the striking miners?

8) Billy ends up as "a winner". Do you think the film would have been better or worse if Billy had failed to pass his audition? Why? How would you think things would have turned out for Billy in that case?

9) What do you think are the main topics of the film?

10) What do you think about the movie?
