Hello.

I got this text about the mermaid. If you got the time, i would appreciate the help of someone.

The text:

I understand this quote in different ways. But it’s hard to find the meaning, so I have to read between the lines. When the witch says, that she needs to get rid of the tail and to be loved by the prince, she laughs insanely. It’s possible because the witch didn’t believe in what she told her. But the mermaid’s expectations were too high. So she was disposed, to take every word from the witch for granted.
This quote is essential for the whole story, because her exceptional choice in this part is going to change her life. She can choose to be with her lover, who is the prince, or she can return to her family.

She is in love. Love makes you do spontaneous things. When you act it’s on your feelings alone, and not on common sense. That’s how the mermaid acts. She doesn’t have thoughts for her family, her future life. The only thing she got in mind is the prince.

When I read the quote, I begin to get wrinkle up. Instead of guiding the mermaid, the witch tell her how painful and terrible it would be turning to a human. “But at every step you take it will feel as if you were treading upon sharp knives, and that the blood must flow.”
In this line the witch put one of the bad examples being a human. When the witch start to be encouraging, she always come with comment that made the mermaids voice quaver. Even though she feared these things, she wouldn’t give up. She got the prince in her mind. She was immovable.

I choose it because the way the witch behaved. It was extraordinary how the witch notified the situation to the mermaid. In my opinion the way she addressed the mermaid was very abnormal. The way she told the mermaid, of the terrible things that will happen, made me think that she didn’t have a clear conscience.

This part plays a very important part of the story. In the quote, I’ve chosen, she doesn’t measure the consequence. The mermaid is immovable, for all the pain that will eventually happen to her. She believes that the love itself will restore any damage upon her. That’s why I find this quote interesting.

In this quote, you can’t say that the prince is from Mars and the mermaid is from Venus. They are on the same planet. They share a bond together that is, in the mermaid’s opinion, unbreakable.

But the mermaid’s expectations were too high. So she was disposed??, to take every word from the witch for granted.
