The Dutch television Broadcaster BNN discovered an alternative to provoke the debate about organ donation. They broadcasted a TV-show where 3 candidates fought each other for the greatest reward, a vital organ. The TV-show was later revealed as a fake show to jump-start the discussion about the shortage of organs. They said “we wanted to make a statement” and their “intentions have always been to raise the awareness of the shortage of donor organs." Even though they declared it as a joke, a lot of people felt offended by the way they made fun of a serious problem. However after the show aired an unknown amount of people signed for organ donation, so their intentions were fulfilled. Despite the few complaints they received why shouldn’t they be able to help in the way they can? People should be rational enough to make their own decision and avoid being affected by such an emotional and harsh TV-program. I believe it is crystal clear that to fight well known strive against demise, every method including groundbreaking and disturbing methods should be utilized.
