This paper analyses the four main characters in “A Long Way Down” by Nick Hornby and examines the different personalities of theirs. They all have different bag ground and are all seeking for some values in their life. They are all unhappy in some kind of way, but ends up without having killed themselves, and with hope forward. Finding information about suicide on the internet and then compared the facts with the main characters experiences and thoughts. From the novel you can conclude that it is very important to have someone to talk to, whether it is family, friends or some good colleague, the fact is that you don’t feel all alone with your problems. This study tests and analyzes why some people are so sick of life and can’t see the meaning with them being on the earth anymore. All they see is the easy way out of life. The novel “A Long Way Down” gives a great point of view from four suicidal people. It is shown that, suicide has no delimitation. All people can be that far down and tired of life. It is not just middleclass people. You cant always see I someone is unhappy.
