A Simple Exchange of Niceties

Love is a broad concept, but in common parlance, it is usually understood, as a warm heartfelt feeling of affection to another human being, especially family members or close friends. Love can be a sense there may be a kind of love to things or unforgettable situations. This feeling is probably the strongest a human can experience, followed by hatred. In this short story:”A Simple Exchange of Niceties” we are introduced to the narrator by herself as a young girl who is pregnant and has a mixed feeling of hatred and love, which makes her a thinking person. In the story, she is thinking about a special bench in the park, which is the one and only place she feels accepted. It is here she reflects on her situations. The story is situated at the bench where she revolves on the reality of being pregnant and what this means for her. It says that she become pregnant by accident and that is not supposed to happen. She feels about herself that exact same way. She does not believe she will ever amount anything and she does not believe she was meant to be a mother. It sort of just happened. She think she is in love with him, but I would say that she is just confused about her situation and believes that it would be a lot easier if she had someone by her side. She is not trusting in any way. She does not think that anyone is there to help her or to be nice to her. Therefore, she is not open to new people. She does not wish to talk to anyone and if someone does decide to talk to her, she cuts them off – nicely. She thinks of herself as superior, in the way that she judges everyone. At the bench in the park, she feels alone, but in a good way. She feels that it is her bench and that it in some way is always waiting for her to come and sit on it. That is why when strangers approach her on the bench she feels superior towards them.
