HJÆLP til retning (250 ord)
Hejsa!
Maria
Her er min opgave:
To Kill A Mockingbird
The court is filled with people. People, who are all curios to see, whether or not, the black man Tom Robinson is guilty. Tom Robinson has been accused of raping white Mayella Ewell as he was helping her chop up some furniture into firewood. The hearing begins and prosecution lawyer Mr. Gilmer starts questioning Tom. Mr. Gilmer asks Tom Robinson a lot of questions, and in the end of the hearing Mr. Gilmer asks if he helped Mayelle Ewell for not even one penny. Tom answers, that he helped her because he felt sorry for her, whereto Mr. Gilmer emphasizes the wrong in a black man feeling sorry for a white. Tom realizes his wrong use of words, but it’s too late and the damage is done. We’re living in a time where everything blacks and whites do is affected by the Jim Crow Laws.
The situation between the black accused man, Tom Robinson and prosecution lawyer Mr. Gilmer is a pretty exact example of how the laws affect the blacks freedom of expression. When Tom says that the reason why he helped Mayelle was because he felt sorry for he, not only Mr. Gilmer gets angry almost the whole court does. The Jim Crow Laws is representing a way of living. A way of living where blacks and whites don’t have the same rights. This way of living is what’s current in America today.

*curious
*to see, whether or not the black man ... (intet komma)
*of raping the white girl Mayella Ewell while he was helping her
*and at the end (ikke in the end)
*Mr. Gilmer asks if he didn't want as much as a penny for helping Mayelle (det andet giver ikke mening pga. ordstillingen)
*Tom answers that he helped her (aldrig komma før "that")
*Gilmer emphasizes the wrongfulness in a black man feeling sorry for a white girl.
*Tom realizes his poor choice in words ...
*The situation between the accused, Tom Robinson, and the prosecution lawyer is an exact example ...
*When Tom said his reason for helping Mayelle was because he felt sorry for her, both Mr. Gilmer and the entire courtroom get angry with him
*The Jim Crow Laws represent a way of living
*This way of living is what's current in America today: det er ikke rigtigt, tendensen findes stadig, men Jim Crow reglerne er ikke længere noget man håndhæver. Pas på med så stærk og meget generel en påstand. Overvej i stedet at skrive at: "In some states in America, especially in the Southern ones, blacks still feel oppressed by whites and some white people still try to enforce the Jim Crow way of living."
Jeg håber det hjælper :)
