Continuation of Clara’s day

Clara turned from sadness to anger. Slowly and rigidly she got up from the chair and tried hesitating not to quiver. She stamped around in the apartment, making as much noise and row as possible. She did not even think about the fact that the neighbours might hear her, unusual behaviour form Clara, she just went into hysterics. Clara glowered heated all over the kitchen, suddenly her eyes fixed at one point on the table, where the kitchen knife was left. The steel of the kitchen knife reflected the light and shone brightly, so Clara screw up her eyes. She trembled so much with nervousness, it could seem incredible she could keep standing.
Her mind was utterly mixed up, but one single sentence from her mothers flow of words kept ringing in her ears: “And if she had to strip off for the doctor you’d thought he’d been about to rape her. About to rape her. About to rape her!”
Without noticing it she had picked up the knife and squeezed it convulsive in her hand. She starred frightened at the knife and threw it terrified from her, so it with a load crash hit the wall. With fear she huddled hunched together in a corner of the kitchen.
At same time the door bell rang. Clara dashed away a tear and hoped the person would give up and leave soon. But when the ringing continued Clara opened the door, suddenly.
Outside the door the next-door neighbour stood and looked first angry, but then anxious on Clara. Though Clara tried to cover the fact that she had been crying, it was obvious. Worried the neighbour asked with a careful voice: “What’s the matter, Clara?”
This kindness was the last straw and Clara began again to cry hysterical. Suddenly there was one, who cared about her and noticed her pain, after having kept it to herself in so many years. The neighbour put her arm around Clara and followed Clara into the living-room.: “I ought to call your parents, Clara.”
Clara begged her not to do so: “No! … Please, don’t”. The neighbour just nodded and sat together with Clara, hugging and rocking her. Gradually Clara started to feel safe and trust the neighbour, so she told about her life first more normal non-important things, but bit by bit what had happened to her in her childhood before her parents got divorced.
The neighbour did nothing but listening quietly to Clara and keeping rocking her gently. Hours later they had talked together and Clara had come down again. The neighbour proposed Clara to see a psychologist. Clara agreed, though it was hard to admit: “It might be an idea, a good one, in fact!”
