Description of the liquid column:

The liquid had split-up and the lines between the different kinds of liquids were very clear.
Six different colours appeared:

1. (from the bottom) A brown colour

2. A red/brown colour

3. Colourless

4. Colourless/ a bit white

5. A brown colour again

6. (in the top) Colourless once again.

*Of course my model of the test tube is not that precise with the colours, but it is just to make an impression of the order of the colours.

Beside the colours there was also bubbles and fog.

After shaking the liquid column, the syrup sinks down in the bottom and the alcohol up to the top. The middle of the column gets a yellow colour.

Density

( ? - Greek: rho): It is a measure of mass per volume. The SI unit of density is kilogram per cubic meter (kg/m3). The average density of an object equals its total mass divided by its total volume.

Or density = mass / volume.

Polarity:

It is a term often used to illustrate the negative and positive ends of batteries and magnets. In general, the polarity of an object is its physical alignment of atoms.

Polar can be mixed with polar. Nonpolar can be mixed with nonpolar. But polar and nonpolar can not be mixed together. This is why the different liquids split up.

Viscosity:

It is commonly perceived as the "thickness" of a liquid, or resistance to pouring.

Table to data

Liquid Density (g/ml) Polarity Viscosity (thick or thin)
Syrup 1.62 Polar Thick
Glycerol 1.3069 Polar (Thin)
Washing-up liquid 1.1 (Non)polar Thick
Water with colour dye 0.96 Polar Thin
Vegetable oil 0.9151 Nonpolar Thick
Alcohol 0.794 Polar Thin

This is how the dates I borrowed look like, but I’ve made some small corrections of it (in the text below).

Description of the liquids:

° Syrup is a thick, viscous liquid containing a large amount of dissolved sugar.

° Glycerol (Glycerin, Glycerine, propane-1.2.3-triol. 1,2,3-propantriol, 1,2,3-trihydroxypropane, glyceritol or glycyl alcohol) is a colourless, polar, (middle) thick liquid.

° Washing up liquid is a detergent used to assist in dishwashing. It is a thick liquid. This liquid is a long polar chain with nonpolar things (typical an ion), that is why we do not call it polar or nonpolar, because it is both.

° A dye can generally be described as a coloured substance that has an affinity to the substrate to which it is being applied. It is a thin and surely coloured liquid.

° Vegetable fats and oils are derived from plants (typical from seed).

° In chemistry, alcohol is any organic compound in which a hydroxyl group (-OH) is bound to a carbon atom of an alkyl or substituted alkyl group. The general formula for a simple acyclic alcohol is CnH2n+1OH. It is a thin, water-like liquid, strong smelling and polar.
