Republic of Ireland vs the United Kingdom
”Essay”

There are troubles between different countries all over the world – there has always been, and there

will always be. Imerialism is a good example to show how some countries are being subjects by

other countries. Some countries have a bad unity and its people are divided. The cause of this can

have many reasons. A countries weakness - for example different religious or political persuasions

between the population - can be an easy change for another country to go in and take the

military, political or economy control, and that is what we call imperialism. Like imperialism war is

a big problem all over the world too. War can be between two countries or between its own nation.

In this essay i am gonna account for diffeent narrators view on the troubles between England

and Ireland. Mainly the troubles are caused by Easter Rising. Easter rising was delayed to Easter Monday. It was the day where

the Free Staters1 got enought of the British goverment after the Civil War – the Volunteers, lead by Padraic Pearse and

the I.C.A. Lead by, James Connolly sticked together and marched out to bring their message.

In the tekst ”Women in the fight” is the troubles between the English and the Irish expressed by a Women - Constance Markievicz. She says:

”If we failed to win,
so did the English. They slaughtered and imprisoned, only to arouse the nation to a passion of love and loyalty, loyalty to Ireland and hatered of foreign rule.”
page 73 line14-17

It is her opinion, that England still rule Ireland and that once the nation will see that it is just new

personnel of traitors with new uniforms. Once the Irish will finish the work begun by women and

men that Easter Monday.

In the tekst ”the Execution of James Connolly in Kalmainham” is the troubles between the English

and the Irish expressed by Nora Connolly – daughter of the leader by the I.C.A.

James Connolly was executed bacause he was one of leaders by Easter Rising. The English ruled

Ireland, and the Free Staters who tried to get an independent nation was judge to dead because they

failed under Easter Rising. If the people in Ireland had sticked togehter under Easter Rising they

would maybe had got a change to win. But the Free Staters was uttered until after the Rising – here

they became ”national” heroes.

The tekst ”The Sniper” written by Liam O'Flaherty tells us how terrible war can be. A young

sniper end up shooting his own brother – military or real brother we do not know. But they were

both Irish - just with to different opinions on how Ireland should be.

In all tree stories you can see that Ireland is weak because the nation is devided in two – the Free Staters and the Republican. The republicans support the British and therefor Ireland is still in some way under Britih goverment.

Jeg har kigget på den, men din oversættelse er for ringe til, at det kan betale sig at rette den. Jeg skal have den på dansk (eller tysk), hvis jeg skal oversætte den.
