Essay about: ”Popcorn”
Some people get effected of violence from movies and accept them as reality. They begin to use violence against people around them. They do not seem the difference between the movies and reality. Now the question is:”Who has the responsibility. Is it people who accept movies as reality or is it the filmmakers who use a lot of violence and is guilty for people’s death?

The story begins with that Bruce, who is one of the main characters in the story wins an Oscar for his movie. Bruce Delamitri is a famous film director and he is about his thirties. He is married with Farrah Delamitri and together they have a 10-year-old daughter, called Velvet. They are prosperous and live in Hollywood in America in our time. My first impression of Bruce in the story is that he is a kind of self-satisfied and pompous. “I know it’s a great scene Karl! I made the damn movie! They’re all great scenes, but the scene in the cellar is better”. (Popcorn page 1, line 17). But later when the story gets more exciting when Wayne and Scout enter, Bruce develops. He gets more serious and cares about people close to him. “Please, Farrah, get Velvet out of here. You can have what you want, everything, I swear. Just take Velvet away now!” (Popcorn page 30, line 8). Through the story Bruce develops a couple of times. Sometime he acts naive and sometime sophisticated so we do not really now how he is normally.
The main characters dialog contains a lot of irony and sarcasm. For example Bruce’s speech is a kind of ironic and his conversation with Farrah is sarcastic. “I brought her here, Bruce, to remind you that she and I are two and you are one and that should be reflected in the statement.” (Popcorn page 29, line 15).
They are also rude over each others. They use a lot of swearwords like “damn”, “bullshit” and “bitch”.

The issue in the story is first of all the influence of movie on people. Wayne and Scout are both transfixed by the TV. Wayne had watched every movie Bruce had made and he gets effected of violence in the movies and accepts them as reality. Therefore he wants to tell America that Bruce had the responsibility of that Wayne and Scout kill people. “Out of respect for your victims. The people you killed through me and Scout”. (Popcorn, page 39, line 19). Bruce’s intention is not the same. He means that people needs to take responsibility for their own actions and not other people. “Cars kill people, you going to ban cars! Booze kills people, maybe we should all sue Jack Daniels! Do movies kill? Probably not, but let’s ban them anyway. Then we can put all the directions in prison for murder and the murderers can go on Oprah and tell us how Hollywood made them dysfunctional”. (Popcorn page 49, line 15).
Wayne and Scout came from a poor region and Scout therefore means that movies Bruce make shows people in ghettoes and trailers that they are ugly, sick and violent. The movies are only about violence pore people do.
The story is called “Popcorn” and it has something to do with movies and popcorn goes together and the first people the mall murderers had killed was a popcorn-seller.

At the end of the story we hear about Bruce’s final statement: “So far no-one has claimed responsibility.” Everybody ought to take responsibility and knowing the difference between right and wrong. If nobody would take responsibility the killing of people would go on.

Some people get effected BY violence from movies and accept them as reality. They begin to use violence against people around them. They do not SEE/REALIZE the difference between the movies and THE reality. Now the question is:”Who has the responsibility. Is it people who accept(CONFUSE) movies as reality or is it the filmmakers who use a lot of violence. (and is guilty for people’s death?)WHO IS REALLY GUILTY OF POPLE DYING.

The story begins with (that) Bruce, who is one of the main characters in the story. He wins an Oscar for his movie. Bruce Delamitri is a famous film director and he is (about) IN his thirties. He is married (with)TO Farrah Delamitri and (together) they have a 10-year-old daughter, called Velvet. They are prosperous and live in Hollywood in (America)USA in our time. My first impression of Bruce, AS HE IS in the story, is that he is (a) kind of self-satisfied and pompous. You can have what you want, YOU CAN HAVE everything, I swear. Just take Velvet away now!” (Popcorn page 30, line 8). Through the story Bruce makes characterchances (develops) (a couple of times). Sometime he acts naive and sometimeS sophisticated so we do not really now how (he is normally.) THE REAL BRUCE IS
The main character's dialog contain(s) a lot of irony and sarcasm. For example Bruce’s speech is (a) kind of ironic and his conversationS with Farrah is sarcastic. “I brought her here, Bruce, to remind you that she and I are two and you are one and that should be reflected in the statement.” (Popcorn page 29, line 15).
They are also rude (over)TO each other(s). They use a lot of (swearwords)SWEARING like “damn”, “bullshit” and “bitch”.

The (issue)THEME OF (in) the story is first of all the influence of movie on people. Wayne and Scout are both transfixed by the TV. Wayne had watched every movie Bruce had made and he gets effected (of) BY violence in the movies and (accepts)CONFUSE them as reality. Therefore he wants to tell America that Bruce had the responsibility (of) that Wayne and Scout kill people. “Out of respect for your victims. The people you killed through me and Scout”. (Popcorn, page 39, line 19). Bruce’s intention is not the same. He means that people needs to take responsibility for their own actions and not other people. “Cars kill people, you ARE going to ban cars! Booze kills people, maybe we should all sue Jack Daniels! Do movies kill? Probably not, but let’s ban them anyway. Then we can put all the (directions)DIRECTORS in prison for murder and the murderers can go on Oprah and tell us how Hollywood made them dysfunctional”. (Popcorn page 49, line 15).
Wayne and Scout came from a poor region and Scout therefore means that movies Bruce make shows people in ghettoes and trailers that they are ugly, sick and violent. The movies (are only about)ONLY SHOW violence (pore)POOR people (do)COMMIT, NOT RICH PEOPLE's killing.
The story is called “Popcorn” and it has something to do with THE FACT THAT movies and popcorn goes together and the first people the mall murderers had killed was a popcorn-seller.

At the end of the story we hear about Bruce’s final statement: “So far no-one has claimed responsibility.” Everybody ought to take responsibility (and)FOR knowing the difference between right and wrong. If nobody would take responsibility the killing of people would go on.
