Hej. Jeg har valgt og fremlægge om the Jim Crow Law til engelsk eksamen. Jeg dermed arbjedet med de nedestående spørgsmål, men er lidt i tvivl stadig.

Why did I choose this topic?

I choose to talk about The Jim Crow Law because I think it is a really interesting topic. I also have a personal wonder

and it has a huge impact on American history

Who was Jim Crow?

Jim Crow was a theater character by Thomas D. Rice. The character was based on a folk trickster named Jim Crow that was long popular among black slaves.  The name and image of Jim Crow were often used to mock African Americans.

What were the Jim Crow Laws?

Laws that insured the separation of white and black people. They were separated but equally. They separated the black and the white people because they wanted black people to be accepted. An example

What is the main difference between the Jim Crow Laws and Jim Crow Etiquette?

The main difference is that the Jim crow laws were laws and the Jim Crow Etiquette weren't laws, but “laws” made by society. The Jim Crow laws were equal and the Jim Crow Etiquette were not equal.

Du skal være opmærksom på, at det kun var lovgivningen, der formelt set ligestillede sorte og hvide. Du skal her tænke på de påbud, der var til de sorte og de forventninger, som man havde til sortes væremåde og syn på hvide. 

Du kan også læse om "Black Codes" som et supplement til Jim Crow-lovene.

Jeg kan forestille mig, at det er vigtigt, at du skaber rammen for en diskussion. Det kunne eksempelvis være, at du forklarer/diskuterer, hvorfor sorte formelt set ikke var ligestillede med hvide, som jeg har skrevet foroven.

Ja, men skal også tænke på at jeg sådan set kun har 5 min til at fremlægge i, så skal også tænke på, hvad jeg kan nu.
