Is it not hard for all of us to relate to all the new technologies, which bombards the world market, and just waits for us to be bought and used by us materialistic consumers – or should I say over consumers. The technology is made to make our daily life easier – so the deed we have to carry out with the help of the technology happens quickly and safe. Kids nowadays are born in to this technology boom, because of this they do not know a world without it, and can not relate to any thing that is otherwise. But our parents can!

Our parents were compelled and forced to comply with the changes in their everyday life, all because of the technological progress. Their work situation where suddenly changed, and were you where educated and a professional before, then they were new and inexperienced. This must feel like an indescribably big defeat, to be overtaken by technological progress, and no longer be good enough. You feel old and the skills you highly value suddenly seem useless. Obviously that kind of experience creates a negative feeling, and therefore mentally has a hard time learning to use the new technology. Stubbornness works as a door stop and the will and patience to learn something new of these proportions. This is how most sees it, at the same time others follows and co-operate with evolution.

Us, the young people, is born into a world with technological equipment, has another view of the new technology flooding the market. We are characterized as some who sucks up new knowledge as if it was our only way to survive and then throws ourselves over the new things and immediately starts to test it. We suck out all the nourishment of these technologies, and then start all over when there is something new when it comes out. This is also the reason why we “kids” know little about many thins, and our parent’s generation knows a lot about a few things. We can connect it to when our parent’s generation went to school and learned the academics one way – leaned it by heart. They practiced over and over again, so they would newer forget it again. Today the schools are different, because it has to follow with the times. The education is aimed at a wider range of subjects, but back then there were fewer subjects. Because back then school was a house of education, and now it’s learning, discovery and development from child to adult, building of the self-confidence and independence. Today school is not a place were you learn academics, but instead you learn to be a human! And what does this change to the teaching method do to kids? Well they grow up faster and faster, more independent, independent of their parents, but on the other hand extremely dependent on technology, because all through our lives have been our pal, teacher, our method of killing time and our source of entertainment.

We should look upon technology as being a threat to our existence, but as a form of aid, as originally intended by its creators. We, the young people, should still integrate technology in our everyday lives – but we should moderate the usage. Because we can become too naive, when young people time after time throw ourselves upon the new technologies. We have to judge new technologies, and figure out if it is the “right” technology or if it is a new method of cheating money from people.
The older generation on the other hand should be more open for new technologies, and not be afraid of asking us young ones for help if they should need it. We have to learn while we live, and if we could not learn from each other, the world would be a boring place to live. Do not think technology stop evolving just because you ignore it. And do not think that technology is just for kids – because young people is not more apt to embrace information technology then their parents’ generation, we may be better to accept it.
