Women in Cartoons

In this cartoon it is obvious that the secretary only is hired for her looks. She threathens her boss with starting wearing less provocative outfits, if he will not give her a raise. She is pictured, quite attractive, with big bust, long hair and a short skirt, sitting on her boss’ desk taking notes.

Unlike the first cartoon, this one does not picture women as a sexual object, infact she is not very attractive. It is the stereotype, that women have opinions about everything, and that they certainly do not mind sharing. Here it i an opinion poll, where a women, a housewife i would guess, answers in very long terms, showed by all the closely-typed pages on the floor.

This cartoon shows more about men, than about women. The woman that shows her legs, has a better chance of getting a ride, than the two other persons hitchhiking. A man would take her up for a ride, because he is interested in her. It is her own decision to wear this outfit, and to expose herself in this way, she has written her destination on her leg so that male drivers looking at her leg, automaticly will see that she wants a ride, and she is perfectly aware of the this

We are at a policestation with an officer and a man reporting his wife missing. He has been out partying, pictured with his red nose (shows that he has been drinking), the cigar (most men only smoke cigar on specail occasions), his balloon (balloons are often used at parties) and his clothes (he wears it very sloppy). The fact that he has celebrated that his wife is gone, shows that he wasn’t very fond of her.

The man is terrified, his wife is driving the car. It is one of the most common stereotypes, that women a bad drivers, it surdenly looks this woman is a really good example of this, she drives so bad (in her husbands eyes) that he does not even daer to look out the front window.

The mother-in-law is even more feared than her daughter. In this comic she is pictured, as dark and big, without a face, almost looking like the Grim Reaper. The mother-in-law is typically described as being angry, mean and sometimes evil person. I real life thoug, I don’t think it is as bad, but it would not be funny draw cartoons about.
