Privatfest i kollektivet:

Addictive atmosphere at café Tjili Pop!
With good food for reasonable prices and an unique cosy atmospher, it doesn’t surprise anybody that the locals love tjili pop, which often reminds you of a private party at the commune.

Exactly what makes Noerrebro an unique district in Denmark?
The answer is of course the basement-rock, the greengrocers, the second hand shops, the bodegas, the cocktailbars, the shawarma shops and the sushi restaurants. The most important reason for the very special atmosphere is the locals love to/for post code 2200.

They love their district and use it as their (own?) living room. When the sun is shining, people hang out on the streets. And when it’s raining, the cafes are full of people who would rather use their spare time in the pub than in the ‘conversation kitchen’ at home.

Private party at the commune:
The public ‘living room’-cosiness thrives in cafes like Props and Wascator and in a particular extent at Tjili Pop, which despite it’s location on the boring and trafficked Rantzaugade is full most nights.
With it’s four split-level rooms, Tjili Pops reminds you of a large apartment which is open for everybody. And in the evening you can get the feeling of being at a private party at a commune with a mini party in each room.

In the back the kicker table is busy, beer is being drunk at a little table in the middle hall, people chat in the queue. And there’s food and coffee on the tables in the two large rooms.

Scrambled style:
The style is ’scrambled’ without being too messy, and the comfortable furniture is surrounded by large patterned wallpaper, course bricks, half-timbering, light chains, lefthanded attempts with a painter roller and a wall painting of RememberMyName. The video fireplace burns all year – also when the glass doors of the façade are opened to the small terraces facing the street.

It is casual and cosy to hang out at Tjili Pop. Even the relaxed waiters sit at the tables and chat to the regulars while a dusty country-rock crawls out of the loudspeakers.
The large menuboard is full of chalk-lines which declare the bar’s huge selection of Danish and foreign beers, while the food selection is limited to Sunday brunch, warm sandwichs, nachos and two-sized tapas-plates called Maxi’cosy’ and Mini’cosy’

"Hyggespisning"?:
We started off with smoking warm nachos with cheddarcheese and dips ( 55 kr. ), which was made of crème fraiche, fresh tomatosalsa and homemade guacamole. It tasted delicious with a glass of good dark beer from ‘Kongens Bryghus’. The beer also suited a crispy sandwich with delicious mild and fresh goats cheese and fruitchutney ( 65 kr. ).

My friend took care of the Maxi’cosy’ ( 85 kr. ), and he was especially enthusiastic about the small and firm chili-sausages. The large serves of fresh lettuce, hummus, guacamole, brie-cheese, chutney, chicken, delicious olives and ciabatta-bread proved to be a solid meal of good ingredients and without the big kitchen (cooking?)-ambitions.

Hovsa her er det sidste =)

It’s more a place where you eat for the sake of cosiness, than a place you go to get an gastronomical experience. Not because the food is poor, but because the dishes are simple and the selection is limited.

If you add a few warm dishes for the same reasonable price as the rest of the food, the judgement would have reached five cups. We’ll ‘confine it to’? four cups, but they’ll be teacup-sized, for Copenhagen hasn’t got many cafes with such an addictive atmosphere as Tjili Pops
