In 1620 the first Negroes were shipped to the State of Virginia on the west cost of America by Dutch merchants. In the 17, 18 and 19 centuries were big blames of American Negroes, men, women and children sent across the Atlantic Ocean. Many did because of inhuman conditions onboard. The survivors were sold as cattle to white planters at auctions, where men usually were separated from their wife’s and children. The strongest men and women worked in tobacco- and cottons markets in the South and sugar factories on the West Indian Island. Only few, specially beautiful, Negro girls- worked as house slaves, took care of the children, cooked food and cleaned for white families. The black families leaved in small cabins and had a small piece of land where they could grow vegetables for them selves and hold chickens and geese. They were the planters’ property, and he power to punish them, sell them or marry them aboard. Many Negroes tried to escape to Northern States, others protested by working slower, poison illness or by open revolt. The slave-owners were often frightened by their own slaves. It was a long distances to planters, and there were much more slaves then white people. One of the slaves’ dangerous weapons was arson. A year of income could rush in flames, if a barn filled with corn or tobacco was set on fire, and it was difficult to find the culprits. Many men and women worked in the 30’s and 40’s, both white and black people, for the slaveries abolition. Many people felt, that the slavery was irreconcilable whit those beautiful words in Americans independence declaration from 1776, that says, that every one is created equal and have certain rights, on of them freedom. A great progress was made, and in 1865, after a long and bloody civil war, the president Abraham Lincoln declared, that slavery was abolished and they Negroes were free.
