Nogen der bare lige vil kigge dette iggennem for stavefejl eller lign? Det ville virkelig være en stor hjælp! :)

When people divorce there are many reasons why. Maybe they've grown apart. Maybe the love they once had for each other has changed. Maybe they fight and just can't agree about things. Every couple has their own reasons, but one thing is for sure – it will affect the entire family, and someone will always end up being hurt. The short story MOT Time revolves around the conflict of a broken home, with family members who do not wish to speak to one another.
We meet Jenny and her father Victor, whose relationship seems to be the main theme of the story. Jenny is a single hardworking mother. She is the first black woman in the south-east to work as a banking manager, and even though her former husband left her alone with her son when he was just a baby, she continued her studies. She has two sisters who, in contrast to her, have both broken contact with their father.
Jenny wants her father’s acceptance so desperately, and has been seeking for it all of her life. When she visits him at his house her feelings towards him are quite mixed. On one hand she wants to leave his house immediately because of the uncomfortable feeling she gets, but on the other hand she wants to talk to him, she just do not know what to talk about and how to start the conversation. When they start chatting you get the impression that her father is having some trouble expressing himself. For instance when Jenny asks him why he married her mother, he can not seem to complete his sentences, and keeps saying that he married her because she could drive a car. He is unable to talk about feelings, especially his own, and emotional subjects, just like he was when Jenny’s husband left her, and she needed her father the most. But he is not completely insensitive because he drove her to someone he knew could comfort her.
Even though he is not living with Jenny’s mother anymore, and is now living with another younger woman, he still wears their wedding ring. This shows that he still cares about Jenny’s mother, but he has probably not been able to tell her that, due to his expressing problems.
The facts that Jenny and her father are unable to converse, and that she only visits him when he has to give her car a mandatory check (“MOT”), show a lot about their distant relationship. It seems that her annual visit is more like a duty call then an enjoyable visit.
Jenny wants her father to open up, but still she does not want them to get too close: “She hopes that, as usual, he would separate her car keys from the pile on the table next to him, give her the MOT certificate, tell her the cost and let her go.” At the same time she is not able to open up for him, which means she has the same emotional fear as him.
Her father has got a new wife, Annette, who is now pregnant. Jenny has some difficulties accepting her father’s new life, and she does not want to get too involved. She still remembers how hurt and sad her mother used to be when the father left her, and it is like Jenny has taken her mother’s place. She obviously finds it difficult to forgive her father, just like her mother. When she sees the picture of Annette’s son in Disneyland it makes her envious and unfairly treated because she never had such a relationship to her father. Still she remembers the mole she used to play with as a child, which is one of the few happy memories she has from her father. Even though Jenny feels some kind of hatred towards her father, because he just left her mother, and therefore also her, she still does not want to say goodbye and leave his house in the end. She is, in other words, emotionally divided, but she comes nearer reconciliation with her father, and the process of forgiving him in the end.
The text One Flesh by Elizabeth Jennings shows how children may perceive a divorce between their parents, and how everything changes. It can be really difficult to understand why love can turn into hate, and warm into cold. It is the same difficult problem Jenny in MOT time has. She has never really understood why her father left her mother, and even though it is many yeas ago it still hunts her.
At the same time the age of her father’s new wife makes her realize that her mother can not compete with this younger woman because men usually tend to find younger women more attractive then older. The same message is reflected in the text May and December Romance by Kate Ryan. Old men are attracted to young women for status and sexual reasons and young women are attracted to older men for economic reasons.

It takes time to forgive someone you love, and at the same time hate for hurting you, especially when that person is your father. To be able to get on with your life, forgiveness is a part of the process, otherwise it will affect you the rest of your life. Inner wounds from the childhood may never heal, but we can always try to make it stop bleeding.

When people get divorced there are many reasons behind. Maybe they've grown apart; perhaps the love they once had for each other has changed. Maybe they fight and just can't agree about things.
Every couple has their own reasons, but one thing is for sure – it will affect the entire family, and someone will always end up being hurt. The short story "MOT Time" revolves around the conflict of a broken home, with family members who do not wish to speak to one another.
We meet Jenny and her father Victor, whose relationship seems to be the main theme of the story. Jenny is a single and hardworking mother. She is the first black woman in the south-east (skriv hvor?) to work as a banking manager, and even though her former husband left her alone with her son when he was just a baby, she continued her studies. She has two sisters who, and contrary to Jenny, they both have sundered any kind of contact to their father.
Jenny has been yearning for her father’s acceptance for all her entire life, and she is still desperate to get it. When she visits him at his house her feelings towards him are quite mixed. On one hand she wants to leave his house immediately because of the uncomfortable feeling she gets, but on the other hand she feels a need to talk to him, except she doesn't know what to talk about and how to start the conversation. When they start chatting you get the impression that her father is having some trouble expressing himself. For instance, when Jenny asks him why he married her mother, he can not seem to complete his sentences, and keeps saying that he married her because she could drive a car.
He is unable to talk about feelings, especially his own, and tries to avoid emotional subjects like the case with Jenny’s husband abandoning her. Though he tries to compensate for his inattentiveness by driving her to someone he knew could comfort her, so he must have a soft spot in his heart.
Even though he is not living with Jenny’s mother anymore but with another younger woman, he still wears their wedding ring. This shows that he still cares about Jenny’s mother, but he has probably not been able to tell her that, due to him being emotionally challenged.
The aspects regarding how she only visits him when he has to give her car a mandatory check (“MOT”), shows a lot about their vague relationship. It seems that her annual visit is more like a duty call then an enjoyable visit.

Jenny wants her father to open up but still she doesn't want them to get too close: “She hopes that, as usual, he would separate her car keys from the pile on the table next to him, give her the MOT certificate, tell her the cost and let her go.” (side tal, evt. linie tal..) At the same time she is not able to open up for him, which means she has the same phobia of showing effection as him.
Her father has got a new wife, Annette, who is now pregnant. Jenny has some difficulties accepting her father’s new life, and she does not want to get too involved. She still remembers how hurt and sad her mother used to be when the father left her, and it is like Jenny has taken her mother’s role. She obviously finds it difficult to forgive her father, just like her mother. When she sees the picture of Annette’s son in Disneyland it makes her envious and she feels discriminated against because she never got such leisures. Still she remembers the mole she used to play with as a child, which is one of the few happy memories she has from her father. Even though Jenny feels some kind of hatred towards her father because as he left her mother he wa bound to leave Jenny too. Nevertheless, she finds it hard to say goodbye and leave his house at the end. She is, in other words, emotionally torn, but she comes closer to reconciliation with her father, and the process of forgiving him in the end.
The text "One Flesh" by Elizabeth Jennings shows how children may perceive a divorce between their parents, and how everything changes. It takes time to forgive someone you love; it creates a love and hate relationship because you're bound to feel some negative feelings towards people who have hurt you; but you can't exclude love when it is one of your family members.
forgiveness is a crucial process is a part of the process to be able to get on with your life. Otherwise it will affect you the rest of your life. Inner wounds from the childhood may never heal, but we can always try to make it stop bleeding.
