Beware the dog
a letter to peter´s friends

Dear everybody
I think it is my duty to inform you about what happened. I hope everybody is alright on the station. I have been an accident, I was injured after a dogfight, and I tried to fly the Spitfire home, but I was badly wounded. I had lost my leg below the knee, but I had no pain. I began to feel me light-headed, and I decided to bail out of the Spitfire. When I woke up, I was on in a hospital. My injuries treated, and they told me I was I Brighton. But there was something wrong on the hospital. The water was hard, but I remember from my schooldays that water in Brighton is soft. I could also hear the sound of Junker´s 88 flying around in the air. I thought it couldn´t be true, you know the German planes didn´t last long before it will be shot down in England. I find it strange. So I decided to sneak me out of the bed over to the window. – Now would I know where I was. I saw a sign were there stood Garde Au Chien – Beware the dog on English. Now I understood it all better. I was I France and I was sure I was taken as prisoner of the war. I fought myself back to the bed, and shortly after this, the nurse tells me that someone from Royal Air Force, was here and they would like to talk with me. I know it was a trap, they had taken me as prisoner of the war. You should know, I don´t gave them some information about Royal Air Force. I only gave them my name, rank and number. You should know that no matter how much I am being blackmailed, I will not tell some of our secret information and strategies. It would be my pride to defend the Royal Air Force, and i´m ready to sacrifice for you and our country. You should know you matters a great deal to me, and I will never forget you. – Know what happens! You need to know, you making me proud to fight for our country, and I hope the best for you further in the future.
Many greetings from
Peter

PS. Please make me proud! I will do the same for you.
